This was posted on boingboing this morning, it shows a proposed procedure for doing handling of PR on the Internet.
I’m surprised. I think they really ended up with an appropriate procedure here and can’t really find much wrong with it. My only possible criticism would be that I think not responding to a post just because it contains satire is perhaps a little close-minded, but otherwise, it’s a solid procedure that any organization should consider following. (Rants, even if badly phrased, often contain valuable feedback which a smart organization, if they listen carefully and determine the real underlying issue that caused the person to hate you, can use to make themselves better.)
For those of you who think it’s troublesome to constantly scan the Internet looking for information about yourself or your organization, I’d note that google will be happy to do that for you using their google alerts feature. Any smart organization should probably have a few of these set up.
